Our vision for the Dark & Dingy Underpass is not complete. A sister mural was designed for the central wall of the underpass – twice as big as the first mural! Did you submit a story that wasn't included on the west wall? Perhaps you wrote about the Christmas weed? The famous cats of Ramsay? Or a pair of gloves your entire family used to build their first snowman? Your tale is part of the mural on the central wall, and we can't wait to reveal our design to you! We're just waiting for the right time…
Over the coming 2-3 years, the City's streetscape improvements will redirect vehicle traffic to the east side of the underpass, making this side 100% pedestrian and cyclist focused. If the stars align, we'll time Part 2 of the mural to coincide with the road closure. This will remove the need for a costly road closure permit, create a safer work environment for our volunteers and artists, and help celebrate the transformation of the Dark & Dingy Underpass into a place for people.
